Velata Birthday Bash Winners!

One year ago today, Velata was born and our lives were forever changed. The world suddenly became a sweeter place (and now cheesier!). With your help, we have accomplished a lot in just 365 days. Through our passionate Consultants, devoted fans and excellent home office team, we’re putting Velata on the map and are looking forward to another exciting year! Last week, we did a Velata Birthday Bash Facebook giveaway as a thank you to our wonderful fans. We said if we got 400 NEW Facebook Likes by May 1, we’d randomly select five of our fans to win one of these birthday gifts! If we got 800 new page likes, four additional fans would win a birthday gift. A total of 1,200 new page likes would get three more winners; 1,600 new page likes would get two more winners; and if we got 2,000 new likes by May 1, we’d select one GRAND PRIZE winner! We gave the contest a week because that’s how long we thought it would take to get the new Facebook fans—totally our bad for underestimating o ...

Celebrate National Pretzel Day With Homemade Pretzel Bites and Velata

Yes, there is in fact, an entire day dedicated solely to pretzels. And rightfully so—they’re simply fantastic. The average American consumes 1.5 pounds of them a year (Which I did in one day when I ate every single one of them in the picture above). Gone are the days of waiting in long, ridiculous lines at hockey game concession stands, crowded mall food courts or questionable booths at the fair that may or may not violate several health codes for one of these tasty treats. You’ll be glad you have this recipe in your repertoire for any last-minute appetizers, rainy days or uncontrollable carb cravings. These doughy, buttery, and salty delicacies are versatile in  that they are delightful in both Velata chocolate AND cheese. So in honor of today, I thought I’d share an unbelievably easy recipe for homemade pretzel bites that you can make in a snap. Dough has always been intimidating for me, but it actually turned out to be really quite simple. You will need: · &n ...

Fiesta Queso and Spicy Chocolate

It doesn’t get more basic than this. It’s just a matter of plugging in a couple of Velata Warmers and melting some chocolate and cheese.

The obvious choice of Velata Cheese Fondue for Cinco de Mayo is the feisty Fiesta Queso. The hint of garlic and jalapeno adds the perfect amount of punch. Serve with tortilla chips and some colorful peppers and, ole! —Done.

Now this may look like ordinary Velata chocolate, but we added a little Spanish flair.

Warm one bag of Velata Milk Chocolate and pour into your Warmer. Add ½ teaspoon cinnamon and 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper for a sweet & spicy twist. It may sound crazy, but it will conquer your taste buds like Mexico conquered France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

Virgin Orange Margaritas

Since I was technically working while creating these, this is the nonalcoholic version; but you can add tequila or rum to your liking.

You will need:

-Margarita salt

-2 limes

-1 cup orange juice

-1 can of limeade concentrate

-1 Velata Orange Mixable packet

-Ice

Prepare the margarita glasses:

Cut the end off a lime and cut a slit in the lime. Put the edge of the glass into the slit and gently squeeze the lime as you run it around the whole glass.

Pour some of the salt onto a plate and dip the glass into it and then garnish with lime.

Now, these instructions get complicated, so pay attention: Blend all the ingredients together in a blender and pour into the glasses. Cheers!

Velata Sopapillas

Confession: before creating this dish for you, I didn’t know puff pastries existed. My life has forever been changed. Now that I know you can have fluffy, flaky, doughy, sweet goodness in only 15 minutes, I’m in serious trouble.

All you will need for this south-of-the-border sweetness is:

A puff pastry (You can find them in the frozen aisle by pie crusts. Who knew??)

Butter

Cinnamon

Sugar

A little flour

1 bag of Velata chocolate

On a lightly floured cookie sheet, lay a sheet of puff pastry. Brush with melted butter and generously sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Cut into squares using a pizza cutter or knife.

Bake at 400F for 15 minutes. Drizzle with a bag of melted Velata Chocolate.

Looks amazing, right?

Velata Jalapeno Poppers

I need to preface this recipe by telling you I probably ate 18 of these immediately after I was done taking photos. They’re addicting and delicious, even for someone who’s not a huge fan of jalapenos. And the fact that a culinary-challenged individual like myself could pull these off means you can, too. You will need: - 20 jalapenos (NOT Anaheim Peppers… hypothetically speaking, you could find yourself in a situation where you accidentally grab 20 Anaheim Peppers, find out they’re not, in fact, jalapenos, and hold up a line in the grocery store while waiting for someone in produce to bring you the right peppers. I would assume that would be really embarrassing). - 8 oz. cream cheese (or 11 oz. if you’re using whipped cream cheese) - 1 package cooked bacon (I baked mine… I find the less hands on I am, the better things tend to turn out) - 1 tub Velata Bacon Cheddar Cheese Fondue. Start by heating your oven to 350F and washing and drying all the jalapenos. Then cut of ...

Tissue Paper Flowers

I learned how to make these specifically for Cinco de Mayo, and I am SO glad I did. I’m going to make them for all my parties now! They’re perfect as decorations, to top wrapped gifts, as centerpieces, and the list goes on.  You will need: -Scissors -Ruler -Tissue paper -Twist ties Start with 4 sheets of tissue paper stacked and laid out flat. You can use the same color or different colors.  Fold in half Cut one inch off the FOLDED end. It doesn’t have to be exact; you can use the ruler or just eyeball it.  The stack of tissue paper should be about 20 inches long. Cut in half, so it’s 10 inches long.  Now measure and cut 6 inches across. You should now have two stacks of 6X10 inch squares.  Separate into 4 stacks of 4 sheets of tissue paper Take one stack and fold it accordion style.  Fold in half so you get a line in the middle and then make triangle cuts on each side like this: ...
