Velata is such a fun, party-friendly dessert. Dip nearly anything in chocolate and you’re guaranteed to be satisfied. If you don’t believe me, just read this recent post about a backyard barbeque with Velata!
For a recent birthday party, we took on the exciting task of showcasing the ease and versatility of Velata as a party treat: Velata Kabobs. This is a beautiful dessert anyone can make as long as you have the ability to put something on a stick and dip it into chocolate! It’s supremely simple, but that’s what makes it fantastically fabulous! Are you ready?
Step One: Buy skewers, your favorite fruit (we got strawberries and pineapple), and marshmallows (it was for a child’s birthday after all).
Step Two: Wash the fruit (but maybe not the marshmallows).
Step Three: Cut your fruit into “kabob-able” chunks.
Step Four: Skewer away! Alternate fruit and marshmallows for fun color variation. Start with a piece of fruit first -- it makes it much easier to put sticky marshmallows on the skewer—and end with a marshmallow as it makes for a nice anchor and keeps any fruit juice from dripping on your display base.
Step Five: Stick the completed kabobs into a display base of your choosing. I happened to place a piece of styrofoam in an Easter pail I had handy, but you can get creative and use a half melon, lettuce head, or pretty much anything sturdy you can get a skewer into.
Step Six: Heat your favorite flavor of Velata chocolate (we used milk chocolate and caramel milk chocolate), pour it into your Velata warmer of choice, and stand back and watch the children and adults alike make a mad dash for the chocolate and fruit!
This dessert is extra cool because it serves double-duty – a delicious treat and a fantastic centerpiece or display for your party or event.
