A Scentsy employee tells how she found the perfect job combining her German language skills with a desire to live in the U.S

By Frances Ziegler

Yesterday was national Make Your Dreams Come True Day, and although I am grateful everyday for what I have achieved in my life, this day especially reminds me that I have made my dream come true.

My husband and I were both born and raised in Germany, and our first US vacation together brought us to Boise, Idaho, the Christmas of 2007. We stayed with the family of an American solider who befriended my husband while he was stationed in Germany. On this trip I not only fell in love with the U.S. and even more so with Americans, I also encountered Scentsy for the first time. I have always liked candles, but worried about the dangers of an open flame. Needless to say, Scentsy was right up my alley, and I was disappointed we didn’t have Scentsy in Germany at the time.

When our vacation was over, my husband and I agreed we would love to live in the US one day. In 2009 we participated in the Green Card Lottery, where the U.S. gives away 55,000 Permanent Resident Cards every year. After more than a year, a lot of paperwork, a medical exam, and a trip to the consulate, we finally received the letter with our visas. We finished college, booked our flights, and moved to the U.S. in summer of 2011.

After a year and a half, we finally have settled down. I work as a Translation Coordinator here at Scentsy – so I help translate Scentsy’s materials into German and support our growing number of Consultants in Germany. I feel I have found the place in the world which was meant for me, and I don’t think I could be happier. Whatever your dream is – expanding your business, starting a family, traveling the world, or even all of these – I have learned that you can do it! It takes time, determination and hard work, but the most important thing is to believe in your dream.  Celebrate “Make Your Dreams Come True Day” by telling us your plan to make your dream come true this year.
