We’ve all heard the saying: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”
While I’m not sure whether that daily habit holds true (anyone want to share their daily apple eating experiences?), the saying does have strong ties as to why students across America have historically presented teachers with a shiny, red apple.
Surprisingly, apples have somewhat of a strange history here in United States with plenty of ups and downs. However, over time the apple and most apple-related treats (hello, apple pie!) have transformed into one of the country’s most patriotic symbols – similar to bald eagles and baseball.
But, how did it become a cultural tradition to present a teacher with an apple? According to Smithsonian Magazine, back when teachers taught students on the vast frontier, families were often supposed to provide the teachers with housing and sustenance. Word about our May Host Exclusive – the Scentsy Man Six Pack — quickly spread through the home office’s marketing department. Upon hearing about the six, man-inspired fragrances, including scents like Divot and Burn Rubber, reactions ranged from, “Really? We’re really doing that?” to “At last!”
It seemed like everyone had an idea about what to name the fragrances. Everyone definitely wanted to smell them. And everyone certainly had opinions about them. That’s the beauty about the Man Pack: whether you love the fragrances or think they should never be smelled outside of a garage, you’re sure to have a memorable experience trying them out.
Despite this promotion’s popularity, I was able to find four male co-workers who were not familiar with the fragrances yet. (Thanks, new employees!) They smelled each Scentsy Man Six Pack fragrance and gave me their first impressions.
Josh: A tire or something like that? It’s ...

Since I am from Germany, I still hold on to some of the European traditions. One of my favorites is Walpurgis Night, a spring festival that takes place on May Day’s eve. In Germany folklore holds that during that night, witches meet at the Brocken Mountain to celebrate and conspire together.
Therefore, we light bonfires and put a wooden witch on top of it to cast out the evil spirits. During these bonfires we also “dance into May,” so we literally burn the old winter spirits and dance into spring.
Since I probably won’t find a bonfire tonight where I now live in Idaho, I thought about other ways to welcome spring and came up with a great idea! I will dig out my Halloween warmers Fright Night and Ghouls & Ghosts for one more night of the year and warm some of Scentsy’s delicious new Spring/Summer fragrances.
OK, the warmers don’t have witches on them, but they still give me that traditional, creepy, mystical feeling I alwa ...
