By now you’ve likely heard the announcement that Violet Leaf has been chosen as ScenTrend 2013—aka the fragrance note of the year. It’s perfectly serendipitous that Violet Leaf became available for purchase in February, because violet is the flower of the month! You probably thought that would be roses, right? Not so. Violet Leaf and violets are where it’s at for the most romantic month of the year!
In the Victorian era, violets meant faithfulness. According to legend, when St. Valentine was imprisoned, he used the ink of crushed violet blossoms growing outside his cell to write love notes to his friends on the violet leaves. His faithful dove delivered the notes to those he loved. Violets became a way of saying, “I’ll always be true.” Isn’t that the sweetest?
For those of you without a Valentine, I’ve got some good news. Some people believe that if you place a violet leaf in your shoe for seven days, you will find ...

I had the pleasure of being with my two grandsons over the Christmas Holiday. My two-year-old grandson spent much of the time watching YouTube videos of “The Wheels on the Bus” on his mom’s smartphone. He watches them over and over and in various languages and musical styles. He was totally focused on that phone and was having a great time until his mom took the phone away so he could have a restful and recharging nap. This sweet boy suddenly began to scream, cry, rant and rave. There was weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth. My dear wife pointed out that is how I would behave if someone took away my smartphone.
It’s true. I MIGHT be a bit obsessed with technology and staying connected. And when I misplace my phone, I get shaky and weak in the knees. But after the technology withdrawal wears off, I find moments of tranquility and peace. It’s quite refresh ...

I love mixing and matching Scentsy fragrances with ScenTrend 2012:Pink Pepper to create something totally unique. One of my favorite ScenTrend combos is Pink Pepper mixed with Sheer Innocence!
When I mix Scentsy’s single note Pink Pepper bar with the sweet and appropriately named Sheer Innocence bar, the fragrance transforms from something sweet to what I can only describe as sultry romance. The best part is the fragrance never loses its innocence, but gains an edgy side. I can’t get enough of the way this combo smells, so I’m sharing the recipe with you.
Here is what you’ll need:
· One mid or full-sized warmer
· One Scentsy Bar of Sheer Innocence
· One Scentsy Bar of Pink Pepper
Instructions
Place two cubes of Sheer Innocence into the warmer. Let it melt down just a bit then add one cube of Pink P ...

For me a new year means making dozens of overly optimistic New Year’s resolutions and reading as many trend stories as I can get my hands on—think fashion and beauty products. I’ve always wished I was part of those teams that get to “predict” the future, but I never thought I would actually be on one. Ever. But guess what? I was and I did!!
After twelve months of navigating the tricky landscape of predicting fragrance trends, Scentsy is launching ScenTrend—an annual designation of the most trend-setting fragrance note for the upcoming year. Are you ready to know what the ScenTrend 2012 is? Drum roll please…it is Pink Pepper! I know, you’re wondering what in the world Pink Pepper is and why it is perfect for 2012. Let me tell/show you.
The Pink Pepper fragrance note is distilled from the rose-hued berries (above) from the Peruvian pepper tree and, although it has no relationship to black pepp ...
