The WONDER-FALL Colors of Fall!

My favorite colors are those from nature, especially this time of year! This is also when stores are coming out with great home décor, seasonal or year-round. I looked around Pier 1 and West Elm to see how they were inspired by nature.  Some of the main colors I saw used this season were avocado green, burnt orange, saffron yellow, chili red and, to add a twist, deep teal! Instead of the typical, muted color palette, these colors took on a brighter feel, making the fall season bright with color! Avocado Green: A glance back to the 70s– we are seeing avocado green in larger pieces instead of just accents. This green is easily paired with neutrals or brights. Scentsy Warmers: English Ivy, Jadestone or Weave Green   Burnt Orange and Saffron Yellow: Both classic fall decorating colors. Many brave decorators use this combination in their homes year round. It’s a great way to add bold color to a room, still keeping a natural feel. Add some wood texture ...

Wordless Wednesday

The Scentsy Teeter-Totter-A-Thon wrapped up last week with a bang!
We raised a total of $161,108 benefiting seven children's charities and had a whole lot of fun while doing it!

All the ways we Scentsy

I’m frequently asked why some Scentsy fragrances are available in almost every delivery option that we have, and others are only available in wax or room sprays.  The answer is anything but simple.  Let’s use Satin Sheets as an example to put this into perspective.  Satin Sheets, which has been in our line since 2009, is available in the following “mediums” or options: Scentsy Bar/Brick, Room Spray, Scent Circle, Travel Tin, Scent Pak, Fragrance Foam, and Solid Perfume. The fragrance oils used in Scentsy Bars, Room Sprays and Scent Circles are identical, and as a result, these items tend to smell identical when compared to each other.  This is however, where the commonality ends.  The fragrance oils used to create Satin Sheets fragrance in Travel Tins, Scent Paks, Fragrance Foam and Solid Perfume have very little in common, except for how they smell. The two most challenging mediums to develop are Scent Paks and Solid Perfume (which has a lot in common with F ...

One-of-a-Kind Birthday Celebration

Guest Blogger: Jesse Reese, Human Resources  Happy Seventh Anniversary, Scentsy! Ok, I know, our anniversary was in July, but this year we decided to celebrate our anniversary in September when we aren't in the throws of Convention planning.  We decided to celebrate Scentsy’s 2011 birthday by hosting an 84-hour teeter-totter-a-thon, one hour for each month Scentsy has been in business! If the 84 hours of teetering and tottering weren’t enough (and in true Scentsy fashion they weren’t) we had a large-scale event going on each of the four days to help raise money for seven children’s charities! When Scentsy celebrates a birthday, it’s not just for us; it’s for the benefit of our community, which supported Scentsy from its humble beginnings to the international company it is today.  When the Human Resources team took on the teeter-totter-a-thon project, we were not exactly sure what to expect. We knew there would be a lot of collaboration b ...

Wordless Wednesday

Guest Blogger: Stephanie Finch, Scentsy Public Relations

For the second year in a row I had the extremely exciting opportunity to share Scentsy with TV celebrities at the 2011 GBK Emmy Award Gift Lounge in Los Angles. In between chatting up the stars about Scentsy, scoping out the other booths, and resting my tired feet, I managed to snap a few pictures that capture the glitz and glam of the event so I could share the experience with all of you!

It might be hard to believe, but this dress is made entirely of Tic Tacs! Imagine all the hot glue it took…..

The gorgeous hallway (and of course red carpet) celebs walked down to get to Scentsy’s fabulous smelling booth.

Oh, and since I know you’re all dying to know who took home Scentsy’s new Solid Perfume, I thought I would highlight a few of them for you. We saw Loretta Devine from Greys Anatomy, America Ferrera from Ugly Betty, and Rico Rodriguez from Modern Family.

Talk Like a Pirate Day

In celebration of international “Talk Like a Pirate Day,” we thought we’d see if and how something like Scentsy can fit into the busy, active life of a pirate. Below are the three different types of pirates that we’ve come across and how Scentsy fits into their lifestyle. The Silent, Cynical Shipmate This is the new recruit. He doesn’t know why he’s on the ship, he still has all his teeth, and he can barely grow a beard. Still trying to find his place, this introspective shipmate knows it’s best to hold his articulate tongue rather than risk getting it cut off. Ever-hesitant, this pirate opts for the Fright Night Plug-in. Not too much commitment and a warmer that looks a little bit pirate-y in an effort to help his rough and tumble image. Fragrance choice? Silently longing for home, our pirate warms Baked Apple Pie as a fond reminder of home.Though he always blames the cook when the crew starts wondering from whence cometh the sweet, sissy smell of Baked Apple Pie ...

Seven Seas

Next week, September 19th, will be "National Talk Like a Pirate Day.”  While I have no intention of writing like a pirate (I’ll leave that to Scentsy Blogger Dave Sattler), I thought it might be fun and timely to discuss our new Seven Seas fragrance category.  While some of you are likely missing the old “Tropical” category, I’m hopeful your favorites survived the cut.  Coconut Lemongrass and Rio Beach are two of my personal favorites as both successfully capture the “escapism” or “foreign getaway” concept for me. A question many of you asked at convention was:  “So what helped drive the name and fragrance changes within this line?”  The short answer is seasonal sales.  Tropical, as a category, had lackluster Fall/Winter sales, year after year.  What doesn’t change (for most of us) during this time of year is a desire to escape or take a vacation.  And, if you’re anything like my in-law ...

Scentsy Warmers – Inspired by Design

Before our warmers are designed, the product development team does extensive research on home decor trends. Along with the trend research, inspiration comes from inside the home as well as some unexpected places. Our new fall collection of full-size warmers have been inspired in many ways...    Trellis (image to right) Trellis was inspired by beautiful cabinetry with thick moldings and carved details. The golden reactive glaze works well with the embossed detail, giving the raised areas a dark brown color. This warmer would fit in to any traditional home decor style. (photo: www.invitinghome.com) Marshall (to left) If you love the wild west, our new western warmer will inspire you. Combine with other western decor to complete your room or add it to traditional styles for a western spin. The copper metallic base is accented with leather and silver, making it a great companion for a traditional setting of leather couches and wood tables. (photo: www.blog.barnfurniture.com) ...

Heroes

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others, at whatever cost."  Arthur Ashe

My 12 year old son asked me the other day if I watched the Twin Towers fall. At his age, it is part of history. After watching many of the TV specials and learning about the events, he has realized it was a time where America was tested and heroes were born.

We all witnessed the heroism from 9/11, but continue to realize the special role our first responders have in all of our lives.  Scentsy is proud to honor our every day heroes who fight to keep us safe. We have been able to honor our armed forces with the Patriot Collection, and now we give tribute to our Police Officers and Firefighters with the Hero Collection. Thank you to all of you who serve!
