Products that rely on sensory experiences, like fragrance, need to be experienced first-hand. Trying samples allows customers (and future customers) to engage their senses and fall for a product.
Make and share samples of wax Scentsy Bars to introduce customers to a new fragrance, enchant potential clients, or share the love for your favorite scent.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to create your own DIY wax melts and samples:
Cut it up
This is probably the easiest, no-fuss method. Pick up a crinkle cutter at a kitchen store or online retailer. Take a Scentsy Bar out of the clamshell and flip it over. Use the crinkle cutter (or regular knife) to slice small bits off the Scentsy Bar cubes. Plop the chunks into plastic sample bags and add a label with the fragrance name and how to use it — and don’t forget your contact info so they know how to place an order!
I felt that
This method infuses warmed Scentsy Bar wax into felt or fabric pieces. Customers can get an idea for the fragrance with a sniff or drop it in a Scentsy Warmer to experience the full warmed fragrance. Just pull the felt out with tweezers.
Materials needed:
- Scentsy Bar
- Felt cut into small 1” shapes*
- Heat-resistant container
- Scentsy Warmer (or microwave)
- Parchment paper
- Tweezers or tongs
- Plastic bags or small containers
Steps:
- Break your Scentsy Bar into cubes. Add the maximum number of cubes to your warmer or melt the wax in a microwave-safe container in 30 second increments until it’s just melted. Do not overheat.
- Grab a piece of felt with the tweezers and soak it in the melted wax. Lift and drain excess wax.
- Lay the felt piece on the parchment paper to harden.
- Put the sample in a plastic bag and slap on a label!
Scent takes shape
Use silicone candy or soap molds to make tiny, uber-cute wax melt samples.
Materials needed:
- Scentsy Bar
- Silicone mold*
- Heat-resistant measuring cup
- Microwave or double boiler
Steps:
- Break your Scentsy Bar into cubes. Melt the wax in a microwave-safe container in 30 second increments or use a double-boiler. Do not overheat.
- Pour the melted wax into the silicone mold cups and allow to harden.
- Pop the sample out of the mold.
- Put the sample in a plastic bag and slap on a label!
*Just a quick reminder: Scentsy Consultants may not create wax samples using licensed partner molds or images. Felt pieces and silicone molds in the Classic Curve shape are available for purchase in the Consultant Store.
Fresh mash-ups
Make your own special fragrance blends to show customers how two scents are easily paired to create something new!
Scentsy offers fragrances that are meant to be mixed, but there’s no reason you can’t invent your own fragrant blend. Mix small amounts first to test combos before committing to larger batches. Remember to write down your fave mixes and any adjustments. Share with customers, friends and family and ask for feedback!
Here are some ideas to get you started:
