We know how fun it is to collect Scentsy Wax Bars for every occasion, but to make sure your seasonal scents stay fresh, proper storage is crucial. If you keep Scentsy Bars in the wrong location, their fragrance can be dulled, or worse, they could melt prematurely. Here’s our definitive guide on how and where to store Scentsy Wax.
Keep Scentsy Bars cool, dark and dry
The key to preserve Scentsy Bars is to make sure they don’t melt before they go in your warmer. Keep them out of direct sunlight, as well as cupboards and cabinets adjacent to ovens, dishwashers, dryers and other sources of heat. Excess moisture can also reduce the longevity of your bars. Keep Scentsy Bars in their original packaging, and don’t store them in damp spaces, such as a refrigerator. The best spots to keep your bars are places like bedroom drawers, roomy pantries and linen closets. Not only are these spaces usually cool, dark and dry, they have the added benefit of giving these high-traffic spaces an alluring aroma over time!
Do not freeze Scentsy Bars
While the freezer is great at preserving food, the same isn’t true for Scentsy Bars. The extreme temperature variation can cause the fragrance oils in the wax to separate, affecting the overall quality of the bar. We have done extensive testing on this storage method, and believe us, you are far better off storing your Scentsy bars at room temperature.
Keep Scentsy Bars laid flat
Even gravity can take its toll on your Scentsy Bars, given enough time. Lay your bars flat whenever possible. Of course, if you are a Consultant, it’s OK to temporarily hang up Scentsy Bars for fair displays and other shows — just be sure to store any remaining bars flat afterward!
Rotate your Scentsy Bar collection
Scentsy Bars, like all good things in life, won’t last forever. To truly get the most out of your collection, we recommend a “first in, first out” system: Enjoy older bars first! Afraid of using up your supply of an old favorite? Scentsy Club subscribers enjoy the Always Get My Bar perk, ensuring they continue to get a fresh supply of their most treasured scents. I’ve been a Scentsy user and one time rep fir over 10 years but I have noticed the bars do not keep their scent more than a day or two.
Why is that? Did the company stop using the original oils/ scents they started with? I’m not happy about this & am struggling to continue buying if they do not keep their scent.

We’re sorry to hear you feel the fragrances aren’t lasting as long. We want to assure you that the formula and quality control for our Scentsy Bars have not changed. There are various factors that contribute to how well and how long you can smell a fragrance, some of which we cover in this article https://scentsyblog.com/…/why-cant-i-smell-my-candle…/

I have to agree the wax bars are not lasting as long as they use to.

I am also a long time Scentsy user and recently my friend and I experienced the same loss of scent after just 1-2 days of melting. Strange when I have the same wax scent from 3 years ago that still smells amazing but the brand new one didn’t smell after 2 uses. It also happened with a couple other brand new bars. My friend has now decided to never buy any more Scentsy wax. I’m disappointed as I have invested many $$$ in burners as well as diffusers. I’m starting to feel like the company is not telling us something ?

Each scent has a different level of scent throw depending on the fragrance oil composition. Factors like weather, humidity, ventilation systems, and elevation can alter scent throw.
*Scent disperses through heat which is impacted by cold weather. When the air is cold and dry, there is less moisture in it to help disperse the scent.
*Environment: Large rooms and ceiling fans, tile versus carpeted floors can affect how scent dissipates, as do open windows and ventilation systems.
*Everyone has a different sense of smell, so scents will smell stronger to some than others.
*Certain fragrance notes are stronger than others. For example, citrus notes are typically recognizable and have a stronger strength as opposed to musk notes, which aren’t easily identifiable and are used to create harmony within a fragrance, so you could expect citrus scents to be perceived as stronger than musky ones.
If you are dissatisfied, please contact your Scentsy Consultant.

I have also been experiencing this and they are properly stored and I do not even have time to rotate them since I use them a lot for the same reason that they are not keeping the aroma.

I love scentsy! The bars have the longest lasting fragrance of anything else on the market! Those that are experiencing otherwise have to realize that some scents are more subtle and are meant to be since some ppl enjoy more subtle fragrance such as perfectly pomegranate that’s just one example. If you are looking for a longer and stronger scent try newborn nursery. Some of my faves are mahalo coconut, clean breeze, and sun kissed citrus!I also love the fall scents such as apple and cinnamon sticks and harvest blesssings.I am completely satisfied with scentsy. The warmers are of great quality ,so is the the wax!

Blackberry Meringue. I always try to get it to come back on bbmb so I can add it to my club subscription. Hoping one day it will make an appearance on there for me. Last time you had it, I bought 2-6pks and just ran out a year ago. I tried to hold on to them as long as possible lol.

i just discovered Scentsy this summer and i love everything about it especially the many beautifully designed warmers but my concern is what will happen when the lighting industry completely switches to led lightbulbs? LED light doesnt get hot and wont melt the wax bars. this is a real concern. i was in Lowes today and there was not an incandescent lightbulb anywhere in any wattage. all were LED. i hesitate to buy more warmers and bars if the technology renders them obsolete. what are your plans to keep your products updated and useful fot many years to come?
Scentsy says
Scentsy has a manufacturing company that makes our bulbs, so we don’t anticipate that being an issue for us. We also have many element warmers that don’t use a bulb, as well as many other unplugged products!
