Don’t say goodbye! How to upcycle old Scentsy Warmers
There are many reasons to retire an old Scentsy Warmer:
- The call of the NEW. Each season we release several never-before-seen Warmer designs, big and small. Not to mention those adorable Warmers of the Month!
- Lights out. The bulb in your Warmer burns out, and sure, you could call your Scentsy Consultant and get a replacement bulb for a couple bucks. But where’s the fun in that? Catalog, please!
- Down to the dish. The unthinkable has happened: The cat knocked your favorite Warmer right off the shelf. We offer replacement dishes, but when the base is broken? It’s time to shop.
- Hello, remodel! It’s time to update your décor, and the Warmers you have just don’t fit in the new design scheme. You’re ready for a new look.
We get it: Tastes change. WE change. And our Warmers change with us. But before you go tossing the Warmers that faithfully filled your space with fragrance for [fill in the blank] months (or storing them away, unloved and unwanted), why not consider repurposing them into something completely new?
Here are a few fun ideas to get you started:
Go green
Transform your Warmer into a cute planter. When you remove the Warmer dish, electrical components and the bottom padding, you’re good to go. Also works great as a vase for flowers — how adorable would a bouquet look in one of these?
(Using your planter indoors? Set it on a saucer to prevent too much water from draining out.)
Stylish storage
Use one on the desk in your home office to keep pens and other supplies organized and easy to find. Just remove the dish and electrical components for a cute pen holder or catch-all.
Get Crafty!
Broken Warmer? Transform it into a fun mosaic for a one-of-a-kind work of art. With a little imagination, you can create something truly special!
Key catcher
Use the dish from an old Warmer as a place to put your keys, jewelry or other tiny things prone to getting lost. You probably have more than one dish to repurpose — why not strategically place these on nightstands or by the front door to see what they catch?
Share the Scentsy love
Feeling generous? You can always donate your old Warmers or give them away to friends. Everyone loves an unexpected gift!
How do you reuse your old Warmers?
If you alter your Scentsy Warmer, it does void the warranty. Be really sure you’re ready for it to be done warming Scentsy Bars before you start tinkering!

I have an extra lid to the football warmer – any ideas what I could use it for?
Scentsy says
Catch all for change & keys or a miniature succulent garden house in the shape of a football field!

I’ve ordered and Gifted a Few of the HOPE Cause Warmer LIDs with the Pink Ribbon . Great for holding those peppermints that help with after effects of chemo and more. Look forward to seeing and hearing other idea’s.

This is an awesome idea! I have some customers that would love to hear this about their older warmers, or the warmers that they can no longer find a replacement dish for. Thanks!

I have an extra dish from a warmer I no longer have, and I use it to hold my biz cards. It’s pretty and the cards stand upright really well.

Have a warmer with no replacement lid? Don’t throw it away! Remove or cut off the cord and use it to hold pencils or pens at a party, or dried or silk flowers as a centerpiece. You can stuff cotton or shredded colored paper at the bottom to cover the bulb plug.

I love the Ribbons of Hope warmer so much that I bought an extra dish and use it to hold paper clips on my desk – the pink ribbon may not show, but I know it’s there and that puts a smile on my face!

I love that Scentsy does sell replacement dishes for a lot of their retired warmers, at least for awhile. And if the dish is truly gone for good, then these upcycle ideas are awesome! By the way, what’s the difference between upcycle and recycle? 🙂
Scentsy says
Great Question! Upcycling is reusing a material without degrading the quality and composition of the material for it’s next use. For example turning an old warmer into a plant holder. Where recycling is taking the material and changing the composition to be used for something else. For example when plastic bottles are recycled, the materials from the bottle are typically used to make something else like carpets, toys or winter fleeces.

Reuse those silver bags your wax comes in for the beach or any type of travel to keep water/soda bottles cold and your beach bag/travel bag dry. I also save and refreeze the ice packs.

Cool ideas! Could I use one as a night light, if I used a lower-watt bulb?
Scentsy says
Hi Liz, you may use a lower watt bulb, though we recommend using the bulb size listed on the bottom of the Scentsy Warmer.

Trying to turn my wax warmer into a planter. How do I gut it? Also, do I need to plug the holes?
