Nothing crushes the beauty and promise of early spring faster than a long list of chores.
You don’t really want to do them. We don’t really want to, either. But alas, they must be done.
We’re not here to make your spring cleaning fun – that’s just not possible. (Except for your one super-organized, whistle-while-she-works friend who experiences actual joy when tidying up.) But it CAN be more manageable and pretty satisfying with a few helpful tricks:
-
Make a checklist
Whether you use a notebook or display it on a giant whiteboard for the whole family to see, write down every single thing you want to accomplish at home, top to bottom, before the summer sunrises. It’s best to know exactly what to expect, and checking off each chore as it’s completed feels amazing! It doesn’t matter where you start either, whether you choose to clean the drain first, decide to mow the lawn first or choose to gut your kitchen first, any starting place is a good one. A list also helps you see how many things you can do yourself and what chores you can get someone else to do. For example, you can clean the oven yourself but it’s probably best that you find a company that does carpet cleaning if your carpets are looking old and dirty. Knowing how much you can do yourself gives you motivation to finish all the chores.

-
Involve the whole family
They aren’t going to be excited about this, but neither are you, right? No reason for you to bear the entire burden alone. Divvying up the checklist will help teach your kids what it takes to keep your home in tip-top shape, and it’s a chance to rely on your spouse for the things you can’t manage alone (or REALLY don’t want to do).
Invite a little competition into the process to make it interesting! Set timers to see how quickly the baseboards can be washed or the closet cleaned out. You could even offer small prizes, though bragging rights might be enough to keep them going.
-
Pick your products
Deep cleaning might require some new heavy hitters, as opposed to your normal daily lineup of cleaning supplies. Let’s focus on the two scariest rooms in the house: the bathroom and the kitchen. Tackle them first and get them over with!
In the kitchen, try double-duty products like Scentsy Counter Clean, which not only cleans surfaces, but also helps create a clear barrier for less scrubbing later. Cut through stubborn bathroom gunk with Scentsy Bathroom Cleaner – your sink, shower and throne will shine, plus you’ll get all the soap-scum-fighting power and your go-to Scentsy fragrance without harsh chemicals.
Good fragrance makes life better, and Scentsy Clean products will make the spring cleaning process a lot more pleasant. If you do end up putting the whole show off for a few more days, we have a brand-new, blow-your-mind Clean product launching March 1! It’s totally worth waiting for.

Start early, finish faster
Spring cleaning is not for the faint of heart – not because it’s particularly hard, but because it takes so long to complete. It’s daunting! Chipping away at the list now, and over the course of the season, will make it feel a lot more manageable.
If you’re a get-it-over-with spring cleaner, start now and power through! It’ll help to have the right tools like having the right vacuum cleaner that can really speed up the process. When your home is sparkling clean and smelling like your favorite Scentsy fragrances, you’ll be glad you did.

Reward your hard work
Finally, something to smile about! Whether you treat yourself and your family along the way or save it all up with a big celebratory burning of the spring cleaning checklist, including perks will give you something to look forward to, even as you’re on your hands and knees scrubbing mystery stains.
Maybe you take the crew out for ice cream when all the bedrooms and closets are done, or you buy yourself a new pair of shoes for playing a first-rate drill sergeant to the end. Whatever it takes to stay motivated!
In a nutshell, you can do this! Nope, it won’t be fun. But eventually it will be done.
