It’s September! Whether you see it as summer’s last hoorah or the starting line for fall, there’s no denying it’s a time of change. Students are settling back into school, the weather is shifting and a new Scentsy Fall/Winter Catalog has dropped!
The official end of summer is still a few weeks away, but that isn’t stopping many of us from sliding on hoodies and slipping under a blanket. Before we wave goodbye to sunshine, pool days and iced drinks, let’s reminisce on our favorite summer memories and see what remains on our summer bucket list. Memorialize all the fun the season had to offer with a summer roundup!
What’s a summer roundup?
It’s not quite what it sounds like. A summer roundup has nothing to do with cowboys, rodeos or roping broncos (but those activities should definitely make your list). After a fun-filled season, the best way to memorialize all the incredible moments is with a summer roundup. Here’s how to get started:
- Slideshow: This is a simple, straightforward way to save your summer memories. Customize each slide with images or videos, and include written details of all your favorite little moments. You could even turn the whole thing into a video and add some music that embodies the season or brings you closer to the memory!
- Digital scrapbook: We have a great guide to creating a digital scrapbook on the blog, but here’s a quick summary. Find a program that works for you like Canva, Adobe Photoshop or PicCollage. Follow design recommendations from the program, search for ideas online or take the design into your own hands. Don’t forget to share your scrapbook online!
- Corkboard: If a physical medium draws your interest, opt for a corkboard filled with precious reminders. Photos and handwritten notes are great, but there are so many little mementos that serve as great reminders for your roundup; Wristbands or ticket stubs from concerts or events, postcards from your travels or even a simple receipt are all great inclusions and provide a bit of variety.
Get started
The best place to start when creating a roundup is making a list of all your summer activities. Include as much information about each activity as possible with specific details about the little moments you’d like to record. Open your phone’s camera roll and scroll back to each of the events you want to memorialize. Take some time to sort through all your photos, picking ones you think best represent not just the activity but also the silly, heartwarming and joyful moments that surround it. Organize your photos on Google Drive or another shared album on the cloud and invite anyone else who may want to add their own. Now comes the fun part, putting it all together!
Summer bucket list
Keeping in mind exactly what you’ve done this summer, it’s easy to create a list of everything you have left to do. There’s still time to squeeze out the last few drops of sun and fun. Start with some activities you can only do during the warmer months, like going to a farmers’ market, hitting the beach or the pool, or enjoying a cool drink on the patio of your favorite restaurant. Consider some unique local attractions that may not be available for much longer. Don’t forget to spend some extra time with your loved ones while the weather’s warm. Consider organizing a backyard barbecue or potluck to check off all these boxes as a final goodbye to summer! Be sure to take lots of pictures and update your summer roundup after the season is officially over.
