Christmas without peppermint is like a Scentsy Warmer without wax — it just doesn’t work! From candy canes and peppermint bark to minty hot cocoa and more, peppermint is a go-to ingredient for our favorite wintry treats.
So, we had a thought: What if we dreamed up the perfect peppermint dessert inspired by one of our go-to peppermint fragrances and sure to impress at holiday parties? We had just the scent in mind!
Our Perfect Peppermint fragrance smells just like it sounds — cool, brisk and oh-so minty fresh. It’s not our only fragrance featuring peppermint (Snowberry and Iced Pine are wonderful, too), but it’s the purest of them all. Which makes it the perfect inspiration for a scrumptious holiday treat.
This recipe will make 2-3 dozen cookies, depending on how big you like them. But once they hit the dessert table, they’ll be gone fast!
Perfect Peppermint Sugar Cookies
Dipped in velvety white chocolate
Ingredients:
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cream of tartar
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ tsp peppermint extract
2 ½ cups white baking chocolate
⅓ cup peppermint bits (or finely crushed candy cane)
Cookies:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar. Set aside.
Using a stand or hand mixer, cream together sugar and butter until combined. Add egg, then mix in egg yolk, vanilla and peppermint extract.
Slowly mix in dry ingredients until just combined. Scoop dough and shape into balls. Transfer to baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone liner, spacing cookies two inches apart. (Keep remaining dough in the refrigerator until ready to bake).
Bake in preheated oven for 9-11 minutes (cookies should appear slightly underbaked). Remove from oven and allow to rest several minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
White chocolate dip:
Place white baking chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between until melted and smooth.
Dip cookies in the white chocolate, allowing any excess to run off, then transfer to wax paper and immediately sprinkle with peppermint bits. Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate. Enjoy!
Happy holidays!
