It’s a day dedicated to speaking from the heart. World Gratitude Day is the perfect opportunity to share that warm fuzzy feeling we all love with the people who deserve it most! Gratitude strengthens bonds and can be shown in many ways through a variety of relationships. Whether you want to show thankfulness to a significant other, a coworker or your best friend, World Gratitude Day is the perfect time to share what you appreciate most about them!
How it started
World Gratitude Day started in 1965 at a Thanksgiving dinner in the United Nations building. During the dinner, the idea of an international day of gratitude was suggested. Those present at this dinner agreed that each year, Sept. 21 would be a day of thanks for all to celebrate. Twelve years later in 1977, World Gratitude Day was officially recognized and has grown in popularity ever since. The inception of World Gratitude Day is an excellent example of gratitude’s ability to bring people together, which is what the day is all about!
Showing your gratitude with Scentsy Spirit
At Scentsy, giving is ingrained in our culture. It’s who we are and what we do. We love being generous with our time, talents and resources and are grateful to be surrounded by incredible Consultants who do the same.
Generosity is a key aspect of gratitude. Not only is giving an excellent way to show you care for someone, but that gesture of gratitude is also often taken up and passed on by others in a beautiful cycle of positivity. That’s what Scentsy Spirit is all about! We’re so thankful for our community that we can’t help but want to give back whenever we receive. That’s why the many charitable programs supported by our Scentsy Family Foundation exists: To give to those who need it most.
There are plenty of ways to show your gratitude toward someone else, but if you’re feeling stumped, here are a few suggestions to get the ideas flowing:
- Small gifts: Getting someone a gift seems like the obvious choice, but it can feel impossible to find a gift you feel is worthy. Take some notes from Scentsy’s “Show your bestie some love for International Day of Friendship” blog! Find what works for you; a handmade gift like their favorite meal or a simple craft can be perfect, but sometimes the best way to show your gratitude is a simple thank you card with a handwritten note.
- Loving reminder: If you’re close with the person who you want to show gratitude toward, Scentsy’s “Capture summer memories with digital scrapbooking” blog is an excellent place to start! Find pictures that remind you of your favorite memories with them or, if you can, pictures that that show why you are so grateful to have them in your life!
- Scentsy surprise: If you ask us, the best way to show someone gratitude is to give the gift of fragrance. Take some cues from the Scentsy Fall/Winter 2023 Catalog for fragrance that perfectly captures the season.
Gratitude journal
If you’re feeling stuck and can’t find something to be grateful for, a gratitude journal is a great place to start. While everyone’s journal will look a bit different, its contents are what’s most important. Often, we dwell on setbacks and mistakes more than we should, but finding gratitude in everyday moments, both big and small, can help change your perspective. That’s what a gratitude journal is all about! Finding three moments every day that you’re thankful for can help you recognize the positivity that exists all around you.
Don’t limit yourself! You can be thankful for family and friends while also leaving space for your pet. Show gratitude to that neighbor who’s always there for you or even be grateful that you can enjoy your favorite lunch. We can all use a little more gratitude in our lives to help make each day a bit more special.
Self-gratitude
Gratitude is an amazing feeling to share with others, but don’t sell yourself short. We all do amazing things every day that deserve to be celebrated, so don’t wait for someone else to recognize them. Celebrating our biggest achievements is common, but life happens in everyday moments, so try to be grateful for the small things. Waking up on time and making a delicious breakfast could seem ordinary, but that doesn’t make it any less worthy of celebration. Hitting the gym after a tough day might be your go-to way to let off steam, but exercise is always worthy of celebration. Self-love is incredibly important for your mental health, so sure to show yourself some gratitude — we know you deserve it!
