April showers bring May flowers, but they can also put a damper on your plans. Need to fill your rainy day with something fun? Here are some go-to rainy day activities!
Recharge on a rain walk
Just because it’s drizzling doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the outdoors. Take a slow, meditative stroll through the rain, focusing on the sounds around you: rainfall against the pavement, water trickling through gutters, drops pattering against leaves. Keep an eye out for fascinating cloud formations and rainbows as you observe the natural world. Enjoy the smell of rain, especially by practicing mindful breathing techniques.
Stay cozy at home
Replace your night on the town with a cozy day at home. Try a craft project, sort through your closets and assemble new outfits, print some coloring pages or call a close friend. For maximum coziness, nestle into a pile of blankets with your favorite hot drink and binge a show.

Dabble in watercolors
This is one of the easiest painting mediums for beginners to try. Search for online watercolor tutorials or just paint from the heart — you can’t go wrong! If you need a starting point, try a rainy day scene inspired by our Puddles & Petals Wax Collection fragrances:
- Coastal Rain Cove: Sunset on the shore of a stormy beach.
- Quaint Country Rain: A rainbow arching over a country cottage.
- Rugged Mountain Rain: Storm clouds over a mountain range.
- Saguaro Desert Rain: Cacti silhouetted against a desert cloudburst.
Go out (but stay dry)
If you’re itching to get out of the house, see what indoor events your town has to offer. Explore local museums or nearby historical sites. Catch a movie with friends (and enjoy movie theater popcorn). See if your gym offers fun group classes, like kickboxing. Visit a local coffee shop or restaurant — it’s a great way to support small businesses!

Save the date
Even if your romantic picnic was rained out, there’s no reason to cancel your date night. Go to a library or bookstore and pick out books for each other. See if a local art studio offers classes. Take the time to plan your dream vacay or weekend getaway. Or, make it a double date and invite some friends to a potluck game night.
Try a rainy science experiment
For an object lesson with the kiddos about weather and the environment, try collecting rainwater. Use almost any watertight container to catch and measure rain, but for best results, use a clear, cylindrical container (a container with sloping sides may skew the measurements). Learn why and how scientists measure rainfall, and then repurpose the rain to water your house plants.
Bake your day
Up the cozy factor in your home with a homemade baked treat, like muffins, scones or a cobbler. You can find several suitable recipes on the Scentsy blog. Enjoy a fresh-from-the-oven treat while watching the downpour and planning your next adventure.
Instead of looking at the rainy day as a drag, savor the opportunity to settle in and get cozy. Add to the ambience with a fragrance from our Puddles & Petals Wax Collection for perfect rainy-day vibes. Put a few Scentsy Bar wax cubes in your Warmer, listen to the patter of raindrops and embrace the opportunity for renewal.
