In an era of big box stores running out the mom and pop shops, and self-checkout kiosks taking the place of friendly, knowledgeable sales clerks, getting to know your customers has become a relic of the past.
But in the direct selling industry, getting to really know your customers and letting them get to know you is critical to your success. Numerous studies indicate customers are more likely to be loyal – even if they can get the same item or service at a lower price elsewhere – if they have a personal relationship with a retailer or service provider. This is why customer relationship management is absolutely essential whilst also understanding the importance of digital transformation framework. This is in order to maximise the potential of the ever changing technological climate. First impressions count, especially when it comes to your business. Before you can gain a large customer base that you might build using clickfunnels templates or something similar, it is important to have everything in order. What you will be looking for is to create a website that will promote your business and the services you provide.
To increase awareness of the importance of building relationships with customers, Get to Know Your Customers Day is observed third Thursday of January, April, July and October. It just so happens the last observance of 2017 is coming up on Oct. 19!
Though you certainly don’t need a holiday to check in with your customers, Get to Know your Customers Day is a good opportunity to touch base and strengthen your relationships with your customers and Hosts.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Create a survey and send it to your customers.
Use a free survey tool like Survey Monkey or Facebook, and ask respondents to tell you about themselves. Collect data such as birthdays, anniversaries, where they went to school, their kids’ names, hobbies and favorite seasons. Offer a small prize – like a Scent Circle – for completing the survey. Use this information to make product recommendations and as conversation starters the next time you see them. - Hold an open house.
Invite past Hosts and customers to drop by for some light snacks or drinks. In addition to being a great opportunity to display product and collect orders, it’s also a chance to get to know them better in a comfortable, friendly setting. - Follow up.
Take 30 minutes or so to follow up with your customers to see how they like their orders or if they have any questions. Take some time to find out more about their preferences and lifestyle, and work in suggestions for using Scentsy product or the business opportunity to make their life better. - Send personal correspondence. Everyone likes to get mail (and we’re not talkin’ bills!). Send handwritten thank-you cards or just a personalized note to let your customers know how much you appreciate them and their loyalty.
- Give out samples.
Put on a Scentsy T-shirt, grab a few samples and go to a busy place like a street fair or football game. Use an icebreaker, like “You never have crowds like this when you have a Scentsy party!” or “I sure hope they have a Scent Pack for their gym bag!” to start a conversation with someone new. Get to know a little bit about them and tell them why you love your #ScentsyLife.
